We have passed Legislation limiting the Rights of smokers, where they can Eat, what restaurants, what jobs, put out in the cold, what appartments etc., the list goes on and on!
Did we do this to the different nationalities?  Did we legalise a certain life style?
If we squeeze out the last smoker, who is next?

My feeling is when you smoke in public you cause damage to ALL that is around you... ever seen an apartment after a few years of a smoker living there... or plants exposed to a heavy smoker? I used to be one... 10 yrs. quit New Years of '99... Damage to ourselves and our property is something every citizin should have the UNALIENABLE RIGHT to be protected from... period. Go smoke in your own home, if you happen to live in an apartment where you can't... tough it's not your property... it's not your call. Suck your butt away from those who care enough about themselves and thier things to not smoke, don't force your will to die on the rest of the populace... PLEASE! Good lord, the selfishness of humanity is boundless... Next people will be asking why they can't drink and drive... I mean our President has done it on more than one occasion....

Tell me how your smoking in public is harmless to others and I'll show you someone who really doesn't think things through before they speak.

my half of the equation

OZZY..... second hand smoke is air pollution, no different that vehicle exhaust, factory smoke stacks, oil refineries, ect. Smoke where you like, just not in enclosed public places

Just to clear some confusion about attitudes about smoking....folks who are responding to this post are coming from different parts of the world and as such have different attitudes and laws about smoking. So I wouldn't necessarily knock everything that -OZZY- is saying about smoking in public because the acceptability of it is different in Holland than in the US. So you may want to preface your opinions with where you're from and what the rules are there like Butch did.

Smoking isn't a right in the US or anyplace else I would suspect. There are many other rules dictating what is or isn't acceptable in society. Banning smoking in public buildings is just one of them. Here's another example that folks have an issue with....

Riding a motorcycle without a helmet. Might sound stupid to some folks and to others it might sound like the government dictating what you can or can't do, but it's the law that you've got to wear one in every state except Maine and New Hampshire. Perhaps not for long in Maine, because I believe there's a bill up to make helmet use mandatory there as well.

well i tried googling it....smoking does not cause air polution, only in your own home.
SO SD.....you are saying i don't think things through.....**....look at all those stupid comparisons you made......drinking battery acid, going to an airport with a bomb
what *** does that have to do with smoking.......in this case your name is VERY appropiate....WAKE UP.........

btw, i'm not interested in pissing people off, just like discussions
so it's fighting now and friends after (i hope)

Has anyone denied the health risk no! What has been a issue here and you can use some common sense here is they passed laws governing life styles and yet the nation does not stand as a whole meaning we will have more laws made and more abundantly without regard or respect to other life styles this leaves the door open to legal predigest
As a nation we must not pass laws and endorse the opposite in our open market

Let me say it, for the record. I smoked. I loved smoking. Greatest bad habit in the world. It was the hardest thing I ever did when I quit. I'm not "un knowledgeable" about this subject. But I also know that addictions don't make logical sense. Because you know something is right, doesn't mean you'll do it. If someone would have tried to take my smokes from me, I would have made him cry like a baby.

I just don't understand someone that will impose their right to smoke, at the expense of other people's health.
